The Jo.Bros Took Us on the Ride of a Lifetime - Our Decade is Now Complete #BonusJonasTime
Two things I never skimp out on: food and experiences.
When the Jonas Brothers began their slow, but steady comeback, it was clear that a tour was impending. I had the opportunity in my horizon, and I knew that no matter what, I would make it happen for myself. Last night I took my namesake to see the beloved JoBros. The look on her face was priceless as we kept trekking lower and lower and closer to the stage to locate our amazing seats. As soon as we found our seats- the first two standing chairs located in row BB, perfectly angled next to the stage and above the pit- we both looked at each other and screamed. *See full documentation of my hysteria in the slideshow below* Although I sought and purchased the tickets, I was still in awe. Young me was having a hay day as she did internal cartwheels at the fact that big me was able to make this happen.
I am no stranger to preferring to accost an experience rather than an item. Certain memories are those once in a lifetime kind of moments. I remember taking a bus to Philly in the pouring rain just to see Yonce’ pour her heart into her Lemonade tour in my city. As if God reigned down on us, the rain stopped as soon as she brought the beat in! My palette won’t let me forget the best tacos I have ever had just North of the border, in San Diego. Nothing has compared to the feeling of euphoria seeing the GooGoo Dolls and Matchbox Twenty on the yards of Camden. Who would have thought that over a decade later an opportunity of a lifetime would present itself once more.
Full disclosure: I am a full Disney Channel baby. I love a good triple threat actor, I adore an unrealistic coming-of-age plot, and most importantly, I LIVE for a boy band and a girl group: Cheetah Girls, Raven Symone, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Ally and AJ, you name it. I was obsessed, and dedicated much of my waking hours to their existence. (Because I truly believed they made my existence better, and I quite clearly enhanced theirs.) Remember CDs? Yes, I would force my poor father to take me to the store for my copies of Hilary’s album, Bonus Jonas Edition DVDs, posters… anything I could get my hands on to show my loyal support to these artists. (As I write this, I see where my current mentality stems from! lol) I spent hours watching anything, I MEAN ANYTHING, with the Jonas Brothers. I digested it all like an unhealthy diet.
I was often discouraged that my infatuation for these particular artists would fade, but it never did. What is sometimes overlooked is that artists grow and mature, as well. It’s us to up, as a fan, to choose whether we would like to matriculate with them along the journey. I chose to do so with all of my faves. Last night was a dream. In current time, I am still deceased. I have never laid eyes on men more beautiful, and exceedingly talented (AND from Jersey!). I am blessed to have had that experience, finally, and even prouder to have been able to provide that for my namesake and I. We danced, we screamed, we cried, we jumped, and we had one of the best times of our lives. (I’m sure we lost our voices, but I haven’t even spoken today, yet!)
When One Direction makes their comeback, just know: I’m there.
